One of the questions that is often asked “Why make your own jewellery, when you could just go out and buy something ready made?” Our reply is, “Because we enjoy doing it”, but that’s not the only reason.

Making jewellery is more than enjoyable, it’s stimulating and creative. You can take lots of beads, crystals and combine them into a beautiful piece of jewellery. It’s unique, it’s hand-made, it’s special because you’ve made it.

Beading can be incredibly be relaxing. Browsing through the range of beads available, selecting tones and colours, sizes and textures, then laying them out to form patterns, seeing which designs work and which don’t. Threading them into simple strings or complex motifs – mixing and matching to build up the complete and unique design.

Starting with simple designs, you will soon feel the urge to push the boundary, to try something more complex, knowing that if you don’t like the end result you can disassemble it and make the parts into another piece, learning all the while about what looks good and what doesn’t.

When you enjoy making jewellery it’s only natural to want to share our designs, and they can make super personal gifts for family and friends. You might want to take classes and learn new skills. You also might want to share your skills in running workshops or classes of our own, or just finding out that selling your creations to others gives you a huge buzz. To acheive all this why not come to our jewellery making classes and start a new hobby!

The Bead Shop has taken its popular jewellery making classes to a new dimension with the introduction of its new website, The Bead Shop Academy. This brings together all the information about our jewellery making classes and events in one location. You can see what classes are available, book your place via an online form and pay for it via PayPal or by debit or credit card – it really couldn’t be easier.

Classes are categorised as Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced, so you can pick the level that suits you best, you can also browse and book for classes by your favourite tutor, or check out the calendar to see what’s available when you want to come to a class.
